MAXWELL'S DEMON(S) [REV2.NUXX] HOODIE

The first hoodies I've ever made and my first pieces of 2024! 

My extremely limited MAXWELL'S DEMON(S) [REV2.NUXX] hoodies are all screen printed by hand with matte black and fluorescent red ink in an all-over print, available in 3 colorways: OG White, Doomsday Dyed, and OOPS ALL BLUE (da ba dee da ba dye).

Each hoodie comes with a certificate of authenticity and holographic sticker unique to this release.

• OG White: Standard white hoodie (14 oz heavyweight 100% cotton fleece, pre-washed for true-to-size, no-shrink fit), screen printed by hand with matte black and fluorescent red ink in an all-over print. One of each size available from sizes Medium to 2XL. Hand-numbered with red fabric paint (out of 4). Ready to ship.
• Doomsday Dyed: 14 oz heavyweight 100% cotton fleece hoodie with additional hand-dyed silver ash flecks across the whole garment and painted blood-red dye on the bottom hem and cuffs to engulf the cityscape graphic in fire. One of each size available from sizes Medium to 2XL. Hand-numbered with silver fabric paint (out of 4). Please allow up to 3 business days for hoodie to be dyed.
• OOPS ALL BLUE (da ba dee da ba dye): 40 oz ultra-heavyweight 100% French terry cotton hoodie with blue flames on the bottom hem and cuffs. All-over dyed "Squidward blue" with bronze flecks. This piece a true one-of-one, size Large. Ready to ship.

A SCREAMING COMES ACROSS THE SKY...
These hoodies have been a long-time passion project in the making for me. When I was first starting out at the beginning of 2021, I made a felt-tip marker and ink drawing on paper I called 'Maxwell's Demons'. However, I wasn't satisfied with that iteration, and attempted it again, expanding the universe of that drawing into the current version I've used on these hoodies. Maxwell's Demon is a thought experiment proposed by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell in 1867. In the thought experiment, a tiny demon the size of a molecule is placed in charge of a door between two closed rooms. One room contains hot molecules, the other cold molecules. The second law of thermodynamics states that a closed system will eventually reach thermodynamic equilibrium where entropy (a measurement associated with disorder and uncertainty) is highest. However, if the demon can dictate which molecules can pass through the door and which can't, the demon can cause one room to heat up, and the other to cool down, thus violating the second law of thermodynamics; effectively reversing an irreversible process. However, this is not the world we live in. The world we live in is wrought with irreversible processes. In fact, regardless of when you are reading this text, I'm willing to bet we are entrenched in an irreversible process. The genocide of Palestine by the nation-state of Israel comes to mind, but that is a much greater topic than I can cover here in a product description for a hoodie, so I'll leave this link to Amnesty International here instead. The back graphic borrows the last section of Thomas Pynchon's novel, Gravity's Rainbow, in which under the impending impact of a missile, the audience takes their last moments to fuck, cry, and sing; all they can do before the end. I have a portrait of good ol' Maxell himself, inverted upside-down and forgotten (you thought he was Karl Marx, didn't you?), a booze bottle (might as well drink up while you can), and a MAGNAVOX television (hold the VOX, since our voice was taken a long time ago by invisible hands too patient to feel plunging down our throats). The burning buildings adorning the sleeves are based on the playmats I used to play on as a child; the sprawling carpet cityscape where I'd crash little toy cars taking on a sinister tone as those high above our reach do the same with their weapons and forces. The demon's in the coming (haha) missile have no interest in reversing the irreversible (after all, Maxwell was proven wrong in the end), instead having a fun little orgy in their erectile missile plunging into the last great climax we'll ever see. So I ask you: is this the world we want?
